Not feeling it, but...

...I don't see any reason Comcept couldn't add a proper chiptunes version of the ending as well. It also doesn't jive well with the wonderful numbers that play after the conclusion of a Megaman game, if Comcept can include something more traditional in addition to this I find it inoffensive at best. If not, oh well, it'll be a case of me walking away from my console during the credit roll to walk the dog or niconate myself.
ユーザー Mighty No. 35542 Jackerson の写真

What?!!

I don't comment much. Being a being a musician though and knowing what made my child hood a nostalgic one was composed digital music on the NES not rap.

Weird to say but I agree with the majority this time...
ユーザー Mighty No. 35392 Dinopolis の写真

Affirmative

I know what you mean. I'm not as upset with the track as I once was, but I still lament the missed oportunity. We could have had an awesome, soothing, melodious track for the end credits. Instead we got some rap or whatever.
ユーザー Mighty No. 37734 ZairXZ Mighty No. 37734 の写真

Gold Beck is meh

I thought  Beck's armor would become a gold variant and he would still have his normal skin color, and eyes etc. That would look cool.   Instead it looks like someone just tool a yellow paintbrush and painted Beck's model yellow.
ユーザー Mighty No. 50008 Ghost_Train の写真

Nice!

I wasn't sure I would like it. But Mega Ran hits the rhythem pockets of the beat flawlessly. The style lands on a perfect middle ground for hiphop in a game like this. Not too mainstream and not too hard. I like that it also has a feel to it similar to that of Samurai Champloo and Gurren Lagann. Without reading about it first I thought this would be a great ending credits track. You guys are way ahead of me.

I wanna make a track with this guy!
ユーザー Mighty No. 19381 Seraphna の写真

Excellent!

I'm happy you guys landed a deal with Mega Ran. This guy is incredible. Not only that but to have an artist that's such a real fan, making music based off Mega Man long before he had Capcom's seal of approval, I'm extatic.

To me, this is all the credential he ever needed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPEa8mWxYkQ

Do the Splash!

PS: Happy you guys don't try to stereotype games and music the way some of my fellow backers seem to. Really All Certainties Included, Such Terrible remarks should be ignored.
ユーザー Mighty No. 3887 DarkDreamTCK の写真

Can't believe these comments

I was really truly hoping that the song was terrible. I s pong that it was just that it was bad, and not just that it was rap. But no, you make a black sounding voice speak fast while rhyming and suddenly it's too ghetto. The majority here didn't bother to listen to the smooth ambiance of the melody behind the beat that goes great for an ending, nor bothered to hear what was being said. You just heard rap and got turned off. Bet money if it was the Megas instead no one would bat an eyelash. In all its a good track, it just needs some cleaning up in the beginning to be a bit more smooth for the lead in, similar to SplashWoman.
ユーザー Mighty No. 35392 Dinopolis の写真

Not Fair

I can't speak for everyone here (and neither can you, though you just tried to), but I did hear the smooth ambiance. That said, it can't save the track. I dislike the track because it has a weak/muted melody and is stylistically at odds with the game. The fact that a few dulcet tones struggle to be heard over the forground doesn't fix anything.

The Megas would only be a small improvement. It's true that they write more melodic pieces, but most of their tracks wouldn't fit too well either.

Also, fun fact, people have opinions. Some of them don't like rap. If they don't care for rapid rhyming over a solid beat, that's their business, and it's a legitimate preference. If people are turned off by rap, they are turned off by rap.

On a side note, I do like some well done rap on occasion, largely because I like rhymes. I have listened to this track 5 times. I gave it a chance. This is not one of those raps I enjoy. I'm sorry.
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

It doesn't matter if the

It doesn't matter if the lyrics were the most beautifully written masterpiece on the planet, or if the whole thing was a quote from Shakespeare. Rap just doesn't fit. Let me put it this way. Would you eat your Cereal, with milk and a burger with fries inside the milk?
Would you drink coca cola mixed with milk?
No right? But did you even bother to see that the milk was legit milk and healthy? Yes. But it still didnt mix with coca cola.

Here's another example:
Have you played MegaMan with a DDR pad alone? The DDR pad is awesome for dancers, so it's a great product right? Why not use it to play MegaMan then? Because it doesn't mix.

Imagine the first level of Super Mario Bros having the main song from Titanic, but with lyrics talking about goombas.
Really freaking stupid :D that song's lyrics about the Goombas and Mario could be telling a touching story, and be a true work of art. And it will sound ridiculously bad in Super Mario. You just don't put that there. Rap in Mighty No. 9 is the same thing, even if its just 1 minute of it after 20 hours of gameplay goodness. Hopefully though, it will be skippable. If it is, I'll never complain again :) maybe.

ユーザー Mighty No. 9267 Pan の写真

I'm sorry, but I'm not on

I'm sorry, but I'm not on board with the ending song being a rap. It doesn't goes along with the rest of the music of the game. I didn't know Mighty No.9 was going to be some sort of Persona, OST-wise.

I like the Golden Beck, but this song's a pooper.
ユーザー Mighty No. 9267 Pan の写真

And why are you assuming I

And why are you assuming I don't like rap? I never said that, what I did say is that this song doesn't fit the rest of the OST we've heard. Neither Ippo Yamada or Manami Matsumae have used rap in their compositions before, so I doubt we're gonna get any of that, besides this song.

Games have a style, you need to preserve that. Using a rap song for this game's ending it's like adding random 8 bit monsters just because. The game is 2.5D, not 8 bit. You need consistency.
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

What's wrong is that, how

What's wrong is that, how would you feel if Juan Gabriel was a fan of Mighty No. 9 and he sung a Bolero about the game in the ending credits?
You tell me, would that fit the game, even if said bolero was in english?
Just because I like a bolero doesn't mean I'm going to ruin the game's ending for the fans with something that's clearly not with the style of the game at all.
What if it was Linkin Park, screaming about Mighty no.9? Would you like that? Nope, right?
And what would your reason be? I'm assuming that it's because it doesn't fit. Because MegaMan never had something like that, and since this is a spiritual  sequel to MegaMan, bringing in rap, bolero, or linkin park, cancels out a big part of the "spiritual" transition.
I loved the ending themes for all MegaMan games. They should have done something epic, beautiful, and that fits Mighty No.9, similar to MegaMan 1's ending.
ユーザー Mighty No. 19381 Seraphna の写真

Someone forgot the ending

Someone forgot the ending theme to MM2.

I think any of these artists can fit, actually. I think you're deciding you hate Rap so you've decided it can't fit. It's not really a valid argument and all you keep doing it making more arguments based on stuff you don't like... as if it's supposed to matter to me.
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

"I think any of these artists

"I think any of these artists can fit, actually."
This is where bad decisions come from :)
With the mindset that anything would fit, you must not care much. "as if it's supposed to matter to me." Pretty much double confirms my point.
I can't just ask ANYONE to make something. A carefully selected team up to a specific task must be behind the work.

"I think you're deciding you hate Rap so you've decided it can't fit"
Rap sounds really nasty, but rap would be awesome where it fits. For example, in GTA, rap fits perfectly, there I have no problem hearing it, because that's what a lot of the game is about.
In a lot of boxing games, there's rap, and you'll never hear me complain there either. It will sound ugly as hell, but it goes with the theme of the boxer's origins or ethnic backgrounds.

In Shenmue, there is rap. And it is only for 1 character who will fit with the theme!!!

ユーザー Mighty No. 11798 Xyanyde の写真

Waaaaah

Seriously guys, what the !@#$ is with all of this hate over the rap; did you guys not even attempt to listen to the lyrics? Or were they too "ghetto" for you?

It's about all the ups and downs the fans have suffered, all of the pain we went through to get to this point, the point that we /are/ getting the Mega Man game we've wanted all along plus more; we fought hard for this. Capcom crapped on us, Inafune made a point to stand up and speak out about what has been going on involving Mega Man. We triumphed; we are Mighty. We rode out the storm and look what we are getting.

I couldn't !@#$%^& care if they decided to put in polka/techno/yodeling for an ending theme; we WON. We have something BETTER than a Mega Man game; a brand new IP owned by the person who has the love and care to make it amazing, to help fulfill our wishes.

3 minutes of a muted credits roll is NOTHING to complain about, and if it is maybe you need to reassess what you value in life.
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

The message of the lyrics

The message of the lyrics alone isn't enough.
A fitting style of music alone wouldnt be good either if the message is controversial.
Both things must match.
Just because we have fans of rap in the community, which is PERFECTLY fine, it doesn't mean it should come to the game.
I'll never look down on people who like rap. Rap can be very fun, where it belongs, even if it isn't my style. The problem is just simply that it doesn't fit with the game.
Imagine rap in Star Wars.
Imagine rap in Top Gun, where Mega Ran's logo comes from.
Imagine rap in MegaMan, where the other half of Mega Ran's logo comes from.
It doesn't fit at all :)

Lets assume I like calm japanese music from anime with high pitched girls.
Now put that in a basketball game. It doesn't fit right? It just doesn't give the basketball vibe. Even if the lyrics in japanese were about how each of the players got where they are. Even if I loved how such a song sounded, I wouldn't put it in a basketball game.
ユーザー Mighty No. 19381 Seraphna の写真

I'm deciding to believe you

I'm deciding to believe you're unfamiliar with Nerdcore.

I can perfectly well imagine rap in Star Wars, because artists like MC Frontalot and MC Chris, along with Mega Ran have been doing such raps for years.

My first experience with Mega Ran was at an MC Chris concert, when this guy, a genuine fan, introduced me to an amazing love song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPEa8mWxYkQ

Also, shame on you for equating Rap with Basketball.

I have a feeling the next word you were going to use was "urban".

Shame.

Golden!

Golden Beck looks super shiny, excellent! Despite what people say about Mega Ran, I basically love his music for the ending theme.

It gives a new rift to it, I`ve heard rap in anime before so don`t be surprised. As long as rap doesn't have the certain 3 things that I won`t mention here, I`m absolutely fine with it.

Finally, goodbye Jon. I hope you have a safe journey.  Smile Mighty salute
ユーザー Mighty No. 35392 Dinopolis の写真

Why?

I try to keep it positive here. I usually keep a lid on it when something goes, at least in my opinion, wrong. This time, however, I will make an exception.

I usually love game credits because they are frequently accompanied by beautiful compositions. It is such a shame that Mighty No. 9's credits won't be the same. I don't hate rap, but it absolutely does not belong here. It clashes so strongly with the game's style that I have to disagree with its inclusion. I had trouble getting through the entire music sample.

I'm sorry, but I really, really don't care for this track.
ユーザー Mighty No. 48770 Liraco の写真

All the best Jon!

All the best, and stay awesome.  Mighty salute

I'm not spoiling the end song (so I'm skipping the preview) but I heard a Dr. Wily rap by Megaran and liked it so here's hoping it's good. Can't believe all the hate for the genre.

Golden Beck, yay!
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

I know right! I can't believe

I know right! I can't believe all this hate either. Why would the devs hate Mighty No. 9 so much? I wouldnt insert rap even in my worst enemy's playlist.

It's like eating a bowl of cereal with milk, and someone putting a burger with fries and ketchup in the milk.
What a horrible thing to do to poor Beck ;___;

I agree with the comment below

Seriously there should have been a poll with rap as a 'choice', not forced upon us. So now I have to mute the credits just to see my name pop up and then never watch them again. Thanks for ruining the credits.
ユーザー Mighty No. 11365 Karuil の写真

Not often I comment.

I can't help but comment on this update, but to hear that ComCept managed to land a deal with one of the bigger nerdcore artists to work with on the game for the ending theme is pretty freakin epic. And while normally, I'm not a fan of rap, I'm willing to give MegaRan a go, because he is one of us, a Mega Man fan tried and true. So, kudos to MegaRan for getting to do the ending theme, and it sounds great.

As for the Golden Beck, I have to agree that his face should have been kept normal skin tone, but otherwise, I'm quite impressed.

haha its getting kind of sad

haha its getting kind of sad that we're reaching the end of this journey for this game
love the mega ran song so far works really well for an ending theme
rap's one of my favorite genres and it really gives off a anime style ending theme
here's to the future!
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

Excuse me, you must be a bit

Excuse me, you must be a bit confused. Hip-hop = Anime?
What? Anime is Japanese. Hip-hop developed in New York, in the Bronx. The 2 things couldn't be more different in style, sound and meaning.
ユーザー Mighty No. 19381 Seraphna の写真

Anime, while a phenominon

Anime, while a phenominon that grew in Japan, is actually American in many ways. First of all Asamo Tezuka, the man who's works inspired the artistic aesthetic that comprises what anime is today, based his works off the works of Walt Disney, american comic books and cartoons like Betty Boop and Felix the Cat.

So no, the things could be a lot more different, our own styles of art and animation were the basis of Anime. In a strange twist, modern animation has started becoming more like Anime too... so make of that what you will. I will however point out that Japan has it's own Pop, Hip-Hop and Rap circles with bands and artists who have been working on this stuff for years too. So to say that it's something they couldn't even understand is just preaching from a deeper point of ignorance.

RAP NO PLEAASE NO

dont get me wrong i respect all people who likes rap music, but this game sounds horrible with this kind of music, this game must have techno music not rap.

by the way i like heavy metal so this opinion its what the game should have not what people wants.

i hate the rap tune this will make the ending credits awful im glad i didnt pay for the voice clip  i will skip the ending credits always, this is first mistake i see you are making.
ユーザー Mighty No. 19381 Seraphna の写真

"This game will sound

"This game will sound horrible unless it's exclusively using music of the genre I prefer."

Got it. It's an ending theme. By the time it plays you'll be done playing. Chill.
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

I agree with you 101%.

I agree with you 101%.
MegaMan has never been about rap, and why should Mighty No. 9 have rap in it?
It just sounds so poor and unfitting. I don't even hear rap anywhere except in really ghetto environments.
And................ Mighty no. 9 doesn't look like a ghetto game AT ALL.
I'm going to miss the sublime beautiful compositions of the classic MegaMan and MegaMan X endings.

But to be honest, it's only going to be in the ending, not in the rest of the game hopefully. AND It seems it will only be a little bit of rap in the ending, not the whole ending theme? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Nobody asked me or anyone permission to include rap in Mighty No. 9. There should have been a poll. I'm sure majority would disagree on rap.

Not able to hear the rap yet

Not able to hear the rap yet but I have fond memories of Sonic 3 so that news is promising to me. Golden Beck looks disgusting though, especially in the finisher screen with no glow. That shade of yellow really makes it look like he's been soaked in urine. It would look a lot better if the white parts of his model were left white and the yellow was made more gold, perhaps more shiny or with more reflection.

Yeeeeeeaaah! The HYPE!

I honestly can not wait to finally play the full game. I've been playing the Beta, and I can totally sense the immense amount of spirit this game holds. Makes me feel soooo happy that the release date is approaching AND Mega Ran is doing the end theme. Yeeaaaaaahhh!!!!!!!

I can't believe you actually got Mega Ran!! That just makes an excellent end to an awesome game!
The golden Beck is looking good too.
I'm so hyped for this game.
ユーザー Mighty No. 2363 jayare の写真

I'd like to hear how this is

I'd like to hear how this is an excellent end?
While videogame music is melodic, rapping isn't at all.
When I finish a videogame, I'm usually presented with beautiful music that gives me a good feeling.
If this game was about people who live in the Bronx or in a ghetto fictional city, it would make sense. Even Punch Out on NES, which is about 2 people that came from the Bronx, Mike Tyson and (supposedly) Little Mac, and there has never been any rap or hip hop in those, and man is that a good thing! But Mighty No. 9?
ユーザー Mighty No. 25961 BenP の写真

Full Circle

Early NES Mega Man was a major influence on Mega Ran's music and even his name. So I find it a very fitting tie-in to have him featured in a game made by the original creator of Mega Man. Especially since his music does so heavily feature chip-tune dubbing and has a very retro 16-bit feel.
I understand that not everyone has the same musical tastes. Personally, I enjoy Mega Ran/Random's style alot, but you don't have to.
I might also remind you, that the music for most of the earlier Mega Man games had a very hard, edgy and driving beat. I think nerdcore rap can fit into space quite well. And an ending song with a victory chant feel to it would leave me feeling just as happy and good as a beautifully melodic piece.
At any rate, that is why I think it is an excellent end.
