Mighty Audio Update: Sweet Ear Candy and Countdown to PAX!

Hello, Mighty Beckers!

We’ve got our hands full here at Mighty HQ with PAX this weekend, with our Mighty leaders Keiji Inafune and Nick Yu getting ready for the Mighty Chat panel! That means our final August update is short and sweet. We’ve got a new tune for you, an update on the forum contests, and not one, but TWO Community Spotlights!

Ice, Ice, Baby…

When we last interviewed her, Manami Matsumae confessed to us that her favorite tune out of the ones she’s composed for Mighty No. 9 so far was Mighty No. 2’s stage music! Curious voices arose, wondering what that (no-doubt awesome) beat was like, and how it stacks up to the sweet, sweet tunes we’ve already revealed...

If the composer herself named it her favorite, then it must be aural ambrosia, right? Well how about you give it a listen and tell us what you think? Here it is, our new theme for Mighty No. 2’s stage!

If you think it’s good now, just wait until you hear it in-game...

Meanwhile, on the Forums…

As we round up our final phase of the enemy design contest, we want to give another shout-out to all of the original ideas and awesome designs we received from our backers! We can’t wait to show you how the winners will look in the game, but we hope that YOU can wait and give us a little more time to choose/brush up the winners for presenting!

That’s all for this week!

...or is it? Maybe you should check back on the Mighty page or the forums in a day or two…

Aaaaanyway, so how about that Mighty No. 2 tune, huh? Interested to hear what Inafune has to say at tomorrow’s Mighty Chat? If so, you can check it out live here! And if you’re at PAX, let us know what you think of the show, and post those pictures!

We’ll look for you here in the comments, back on the forums, on twitter, or our official Facebook page!

Get it in gear, Mighties!(`_´)ゞ

-Dina (Mighty No. 1046), and the Mighty No. 9 Team

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: UNDER THE DOG

Now we usually stick to one Community Spotlight at a time, but this one was too good to pass up! Not only that, but it’s the first non-game Kickstarter, and probably our most mature spotlight content to date. With a hat trick like this, you know this project’s gonna be a unique one!

Under the Dog is a sci-fi action thriller revolves around a group of young covert operatives forced against their will to weed out the malignant force that changed the face of Tokyo five years before the start of the series. The underdogs (get it?) must complete their tasks at all costs for risk of losing not only their lives, but those of their loved ones as well. Life and death are central themes of the project, similar to titles like Ghost in the Shell and Neon Genesis Evangelion. The initial goal is set at a single episode, but stretch goals could push this narrative even further!

Speaking of these famous anime series, the team is a motley crew of veterans from both the animation and video game industries (including Project Phoenix!). Fans of either genre will appreciate the wealth of experience held by each team member. The content up on their Kickstarter page speaks volumes about the potential of this project, so be sure to check it out!

We are very excited about this project, not only because of the amazing team assembled to behind this anime (good friends of ours, by the way!), but also because of what a successful Kickstarter campaign here could mean for the anime industry as a whole. UTD is employing some very unique techniques to reach fans of anime that are usually left out of creative considerations and we can’t wait to see them put these ideas into action! There’s a little over a week left, so strike while the iron’s hot!

Oh, and one more thing… when he heard we were going to do this Community Spoitlight,Under the Dog’s main character and weapon designer Yusuke Kozaki sent us this awesome illustration! Thanks a lot, KYMG!
