October Development Update: A Mighty Level-Up!

Autumn is here, Mighty Backers,

But things are still heating up here in Osaka! Our burning desire to make this game the best it can be fans the flames of development, and as always our Mighty director Koji Imaeda is here with this month’s development update: a passion-filled ROM check from Inafune himself!

ONTO THE NEXT STAGE(S)!

Imaeda: Hi again, everyone! Between the Mighty Month events, our presence at Tokyo Game Show and beta updates, the team has certainly had their hands full… but that doesn’t mean they’ve been slacking on the game development front! The latest ROM contained new stages, so let’s take a look at what’s in store!

Inafune-san and the team having a blast during the ROM check, as always!

First off is No. 7’s stage, shown briefly during last month’s PAX gameplay video. In this stage, out-of-control vehicles fly along the highway. Both the stage and its enemies are all about speed, but the player will have to keep their cool to take them on!

From the highway into the tunnel… this game lets switch up the setting and take players into new experiences in a single stage!

Next is the mine stage, where players will be able to see some of the winning designs from the enemy design contest. Massive drills come and go, burrowing deep into the earth. If one of those gets you, well… we don’t have to tell you what’ll happen, do we?

After that we got to take a look at No. 1’s stage, the oil refinery (albeit still in a very early stage.). The plan is to put pools of oil here and there that’ll burst into flame with enemy attacks and brilliantly illuminate the stage. Just give us a little time to pull it together!

Last but not least we have an interesting sight: Mighty No. 5 up against 2 Becks!?

This scene actually comes out of the Online Race Battle mode. At the end of the race, fulfilling certain conditions will send you into a boss battle! The fight comes down to who can inflict more damage on the boss. Of course, if the boss takes out either or both of you that’s all she wrote. Do you go for broke or try to tough it out? It’s up to you how to handle the fight!

Thank you, Imaeda-san! Hope these glimpses have gotten all of you looking forward to what’s in store! And speaking of what’s in store...

VOICE ACTING SURVEY REMINDER

As we’ve explained in our last update, we’re putting funds from the Fangamer reward survey upgrades towards adding voice acting to Mighty No. 9! We have enough for one language now, so we’re putting the decision of which language to go with in YOUR hands. So which is it: English or Japanese?

We’ve already gotten a bunch of votes from our email survey, but if you still haven't gotten your email survey, you can contact backerpoll@comcept.jp, subject "Missing Voice Acting Vote Email" and we will try to get you squared away ASAP!

P.S. If you're on SurveyMonkey's opt-out list, please opt-in here to get your email.

There has been a lot of healthy debate on the voice options already here in the comments, back on the forums, on Twitter, even on our official Facebook page! So don’t hesitate to join the discussion and embrace the warm Mighty community. Make your voice heard!

The power is yours, Mighties! (`_´)ゞ
