KIMOKIMO CUP PART 8: Feedback and Results!

Hey mighties! It has been a while since our last update!
 

We have been busy getting Mighty No. 9 ready for release and planning other events,
Which unfortunately means we have been slacking off on the updates! 

This time we are going to be delivering on the final round of KIMOKIMO CUP feedback and the
results. We are very pleased with the turnout this time and want to thank everyone who submitted their ideas and designs.
We extended the final round of the KIMOKIMO CUP by one week, and ended up with a crazy number of submissions!

We had so many submissions this time that we couldn’t even fit them on the
table! So this time we had to break it up into two big batches.
 

Is anyone able to spot their design on the table?
We know that everyone put a lot of work into their designs, so we made sure that we went over every single submission in detail.
 

This design was easily the one that caught Inafune's attention the quickest.
Once he spotted it, he instantly went “What is THIS?” with a laugh.

He is always happy to see designs that surprise him!
Just as with the previous rounds, we picked one design that we felt was good but needed a bit more
work, and one more that we felt was the overall best submission.

We always tried to predict what designs Inafune would choose, but we were wrong every single time!
A lot of times this was because either he had seen the design somewhere before, or it looked
too similar to a design he had used in the past.

“It’s easy to understand, and the shape itself is interesting.”

As usual, Inafune really likes the designs which have a bit of a comical style to them.
Kimoto-san is a fan of Kung-Fu movies so this design had his blood pumping as well!
Next, we want to show off the design that was just one step from greatness.
This design actually gets the bonus of having Inafune draw his own version, so they are pretty lucky!

Below you can find Kimoto-san's own redesign to get the character to fit in with the other Mighty Numbers.

We all know that ice hockey has a stereotype of “brawling on ice” so I gave him more melee-combat inspired design.
I also put a rack to hold hockey pucks on his back, which can then be shot from the slot in his stomach.

One attack pattern I thought of is using a combo of both the puck-shooter and hitting it with his hockey stick
to accelerate it even more and create a flaming puck attack.

This time I ended up drawing the design in such detail we could probably make a model based on it!
If our fans look at this design and think “Oh wow it’s another Mighty Number!” then my job 
was successful!

There was a lot of info in this update, but don’t worry if you
just realized we haven’t revealed the results of the other 3 rounds.
We were late in getting the feedback for Round 8 ready because of the volume of submissions
so we decided to go ahead and show the results for that round in this update.

For the next updates, we will be showing the results of the other Rounds as well.
There are even some designs that were not picked by Inafune that I decided to draw on my own, so look forward to seeing those soon!
