Regarding the Mighty No. 9 release

To the fans eagerly awaiting the release of Mighty No. 9,

Unfortunately, we have an announcement that will be very disappointing to all of you. In preparation for the February release of Mighty No. 9 we have been working hard with our partners to resolve any network issues and porting work necessary to publish Mighty No. 9 on the various platforms. However, the issues relating to the network modes were more critical than expected, and it has become apparent that we will need to delay the game from its February 9th release date. We have been working up until the very last moment to resolve these issues in order to make the February release, but it has become clear that we no longer have enough time to fix the issues and have everything prepared for release.

The reason for the delay is rooted in bugs inside the network modes, and specifically problems with matchmaking. There are two large reasons for this problem, one of them being the large number of platforms supported (the solution for each platform is slightly different) and the other stems from the fact that the engine we are using is no longer being updated which means adjustments for matchmaking and online code are being made manually (actually reprogramming parts of the engine by the dev team themselves). Unfortunately, this is all a result of miscalculations on the part of us, the development staff. As a result, our fans who have been looking forward to Mighty No. 9 have been forced to wait for over half a year longer than expected, and for that we are sincerely sorry. I want to take this chance to apologize personally, and on the behalf of the development staff.

Over the end of the year break and the beginning of 2016, the development staff has been working on these issues non-stop without break, and thanks to their hard work the end is in sight. We continue to make progress to resolve these last issues that have been holding up the release of the game on the different platforms.

Because we are constantly working on it in cooperation with all our partners, we want to wait and make sure that everything is confirmed to be ready before giving a new specific release date. But we expect it to realistically be in Spring 2016.

For this 3rd delay of the game, we have no excuses for disappointing our fans and especially our backers once more. We want to take this chance to express our sincerest apologies to everyone who has looked forward to the release.

Although we are far past our original release date, the release of Mighty No. 9 is still right around the corner. We are all working hard to make sure that we can finish and release the game to all of our fans as quickly as possible, and ask once more for your support of this project that we have created together over these last few years.

Hrmmm

Hope everything is alright.
The rumor of Capcom sueing them could be true. (hope not)
Legal stuff is weird. Sometimes they make you stay silent don't they?

Of course we're all looking forward to an update and game release.
Till we have actual info lets go play outside. Enjoy the fresh air for a while.

We'll know something soon enough.

PS5 and XBTWO Out before game is released

Im just gonna say that based on all this, I bet we get new consoles (not counting ps4.5) before the game is released.  Then it'll be "delayed" again because they have to port it.

At this point its actually a possibility.  I'll guess we'll see in DECEMBER??!!

Alienating customers is probably not the best way to start a new company...

Beta

So give us the beta back then. Re-activate it on steam.
Even after reading this relatively old post I still don't get what the issue is; It's not that complicated of a game, (I'm speaking for a position of experience) is the team all new people who are learning on the job?

Any update would be much appreciated!

Any update would be much appreciated! We're waiting for three months now in absolute silence, not even a newsletter through e-mail!

Tomorrow it's four months

Four months that we have waited for anyone from comcept to come out and say anything anywhere regarding Mighty no. 9.
Four months have the devs used to fix the multiplayer bugs that stop them from putting multiplayer as a tag on some storefronts.
Let the game be forever delayed for a secondary feature.

As spring is steadily turning

As spring is steadily turning to summer, an update  would be great. Not to mention, I was never even notified about selecting a platform  for my preorder, I suppose because I backed through the paypal method and not Kickstarter.

Da Faq

I'm getting really sick of this... I don't care if we have to wait. It's not right to keep an audience in the dark like that when they've crowd funded and supported you for years in making a product. If you can't deliver on time, say so anf give us an estimate as to when you'll be able to,  Don't constantly crap on your audience with lame excuses and then disappear for months!

Can we get some type of

Can we get some type of update? I just get the sense there's going to be another delay with the lack of information coming out. I don't play that many video games anymore, this is one of the few I was looking forward to.

Either that or their doing a

Either that or their doing a complete make over on the game and they don't to leak out anything until its done and when the finished product comes out it'll be something that looks way different that the demo to please more people.

can we change platforms?

Ok I don't mind the delay, I'd much rather the game get finished. But is there anyway I can change my platform selection? I've recently bought a Wii U and is my go to console now so id rather have it on there than my ps3. Not a huge deal but if there is a way to do it, I'd like to know please.

Theory

This is just my theory, from day one, and it is stronger in my mind day after day...

Capcom is sueing them, and they are keeping it in secrecy.  Shock

There, I said it!

its just rather depressing

its just rather depressing now, all this. its been three years with a 4 million dollar budget, people have made hit games with less money and less time than that. Irs quickly becoming the laughingstock of the internet, and its just... really sad. Im not sure what could save this now, but it would be a real miracle

I have expected this...

I have already forseen that the release date would be pushed a number of times due to the features that have been promised because of the overwhelming support. Polishing a system or a game to the point of 99.9% bug-free is a major task and may take years to achieve. They must have released the online version or other features that will not make the deadline in a "next phase" basis. That way, super excited fans may have already enjoyed the basic "vanilla" game. I hope this would be the last time it would be pushed or else the "extended" excitement will become "disappointment" already.

Just release single player and patch multiplayer already

Seriously, come on. It's been forever and we haven't even gotten an update in several months. If single player really is done and just some multiplayer bugs need work then at least give us that. Multiplayer wasn't even a thing when I gave money, and isn't anything I give a crap about. If single player isn't finished then tell us that. If nothing else, for the love of god, tell us if you are still on track for the extended release window now that it is fast aproaching. aand if it isnt going to happen by spring admit you can't do it. If you are spending more time on a gimmick side thing than the main game then it isnt worth it.

Update

I think everyone agree's that an update is due. Just to make sure you guys are alive and it would calm the masses.
I don't really mind the waiting time, I would rather have polished game from the start without patches.

Alright... It's Been Another Month

Update, please. I'm getting really sick of waiting for this game when it was supposed to be out forever ago. As a backer and someone who pre-purchased, I'm pretty pissed. No other dev gets away with this.

It's been over a month...

How about we get another status report, as those who invested trust and money, we should be getting another update...

RIDICULOUS! It's a side-novelty. Patch it later.

Alright, I wanted to be a supportive fan, but this is beyond ridiculous. Even the first delay was nonsense

Online is an EXTREMELY MINOR SIDE NOVELTY. Bugs in novelty side-modes can be patched later, while releasing the main attraction. (The campaign.)

Platitudes don't apply. (Irrelevant BS like "a bad game is bad forever") THE ACTUAL GAME IS ALREADY FULLY DONE.  They are not "polishing" the main game! They're just tinkering with side-gimmicks that can be bugfixed in a patch. (Little online bonus modes for a few extra novelty moments.)

Even after backers funded it $4m, you still sold it to a company that's delaying for greedy nonsense. (They apparently want the side-modes "day one" so they can price-gouge for "multiplayer". Apparently, multiplayer has to be there "at launch" to classify as such.)

Alright, so online mode has to be there at launch, to classify the game as multiplayer? Fine, leave it in buggy, and patch it later. It's just a side-novelty. I doubt it's a high priority for many backers at all. Those who are interested can still benefit by playing the campaign while they wait.

It would have been nice to get a choice/survey on THIS actual important decision. I suspect many people only backed "multiplayer" goals to reach higher ones, or support the game. I had moderate interest in this side-feature, but a timely release is FAR more exciting. I suspect most backers feel the same. I would have begrudgingly tolerated a month for it, but no more. This has gotten extremely old, all for a novelty side-feature. The joke's no longer funny.

Amateur indie devs make more complex, visually detailed and lengthy games in a fraction of the time. This had a team of pros, over $2.4m free startup funding (even after rewards), and access to extra funds by Inafune and his connections. There was no reason for this massively funded, tiny, short 2.5D game to take years to develop.

The core campaign has apparently been polished and ready to go for AGES now. Release it.
