Development Update: The Mighty Cast Grows!
Mighty May’s starting out strong, Beckers,
In no small part thanks to the outpouring of support we received over our publisher announcement! While we know how you guys feel about a September release date, but we’ll have an even Mightier game for everyone as a result!
Speaking of which, this time around we’ve got some more Mighty voices for you; and not just more of the English Mighty cast, but the voice cast of the new Japanese voicework made possible by our friends at Deep Silver!
MEET THE MIGHTY CAST PT. 3
Onto the third act of our character voice introduction, rounding off the cast with Mighty No. 7, Mighty No. 8, and some of our human characters, Dr. White, Dr. Sanda and Gregory Graham!
…Now we’re sure you notice there’s one voice missing here. The truth is, Dr. Blackwell’s a central character to the story, so much so that a single line would be a spoiler… sorry about that!
We’d love a chance to introduce him, though, so give us a second to put something together!
MEET THE MIGHTY CAST, TOKYO DRIFT
There was plenty of acclaim to go along with our announcement for Japanese voice acting! It seems like more than a few of you were most excited about this addition to the project (and Beck’s voice actor in particular, from the speculation).
We’re finally ready to introduce our Japanese Mighty voice cast. Take a look!

PUBLISHER FAQ UPDATES
Among the many responses to our publisher announcement were hundreds of emails, including congratulations, confusion, and of course, questions. We’ve updated the publisher FAQ to address the most common questions, but please take a look at the new questions below:
Q: When will backer rewards go out?
A: All backer rewards will go out to coincide with the release date.
Q: Is it too late to change my console/platform or choice, or to update my shipping address for physical rewards?
A: It’s not too late! We will send out a final platform selection survey closer to Mighty No. 9's release date, you can use this survey to finalize your console/platform of choice. You have two options for updating your address information:
1) Look for a confirmation message in your email, subject line "Confirmation for Order KICKMIGHTYNO9-#XXXXXX", with the X's representing your personal identification code. That should have a link to the survey where you can update your address.
2) Fangamer will send out a final address confirmation survey prior to shipping, so please be on the lookout for that a couple months before release!
Q: Can I upgrade my Kickstarter pledge to the recently-announced physical version?
A: The new physical retail version is manufactured and distributed by Deep Silver, and is separate from the disc, USB add-ons and other rewards offered during the original Kickstarter campaign. Therefore, the retail version is not applicable towards redemption of Kickstarter backer rewards.
Q: That’s not fair, I backed at the ____ level to get a USB/disc/etc. because there wasn’t a physical version! You should let me change/update my pledge!
A: While we love that you’re excited from Deep Silver’s retail release of Mighty No. 9, the aforementioned separation between Kickstarter and retail versions currently makes this impossible: As of now, the process involves two different manufacturers (Fangamer and Deep Silver) and multiple distributors (Humble Bundle, and Deep Silver’s regional distributors) for the Kickstarter and retail versions of the game. That’s why making this change would not as simple as upgrading your pledge. That being said, rest assured that your feedback has been heard and passed on to the appropriate channels.
That’s all of our FAQ updates for now, but if you have anymore questions please email us at mightyno9@comcept.jp, subject “Mighty Publisher Question”!
That’s all for this update! What’d you think of the new voice-centric happenings for Mighty No. 9? Let us know how we're doing in the comments below, Facebook or twitter!
Until next time, Mighties!(`_´)ゞ

I think No. 7 might be the only "miss" to me so far as an act (where No. 4 had an issue of whether or not he could be clearly heard versus BGM) - I can tell he's a little overdramatic but he doesn't quite sound that into it. He does sound like he's struggling at least, which is good, he just feels like something's missing in the overall performance.
No. 8 is incredible as an act - absolutely the elementally perfect cold sniper - but he may be a little too low and mumbly to be clearly heard over stage or boss music. Steve Blum definitely delivers, I just hope the sound engineering ups his volume just a little.
I absolutely love Dr. Sanda's announcement of the Mighty No. 9 title! He sounds like an old-timey radio announcer personality when he does it. The character didn't strike me as being like that visually, but now that I've heard it, it's the best way you could've gone about it. He's hammy and over the top, and that's perfect for a guy who will primarily be a radio voice. I really like this one, and can't wait to hear him barking the obvious to veteran platforming gamers.
I like how Dr. White doesn't sound old and wisened (nor does he look the part). He's young and doesn't sound like he quite has a grasp on what indirect part he's had in making this mess (by handily creating eight of the greatest killer robots ever). This makes him feel a bit more human and relatable as someone who may have helped cause a mess, but sounds almost powerless beyond hoping his last in-control creation can get the job done. He sounds like he's still learning as he goes along, like Beck himself... and much less of a stable, strong parent figure. I like that dynamic this voice is presenting to me, very much. This is overall my favorite voice of the lot, somehow the most grounded among the caricatures that make up the bosses... but it works!
Mr. Graham is cool. He comes off as a corporate sleaze and/or a put-upon middle management figure as everyone scrambles to find some way to fix this mess. I don't know how he yet factors into the story, but in so far as presenting the kind of character he is, this is another winner.
Overall it's a very solid English cast, and I'd have been all right with just the English voicework if it came to it. I'm glad to hear the extra publisher funding will let those that are fans of Japanese voicework have their fun, too, can't wait to hear those either!

Have to say, definitely liking some of the casting choices here. Was a little surprised you guys went with a male voice actor for Beck in the Japanese version, but knowing who's voicing him, that should be a good fit. Definitely nice to see MAO voicing Call. She should fit right in. Either way, definitely excited about the cast so far. Would definitely like to hear the voices in the near future, if at all possible.

I know you're upset, but that's just how it is. I recently Kickstarted Yooka-Laylee and I'm well aware of the possibility of a publisher coming in and not being able to get a physical copy because of it. However, I'm generally happy with what I'll be getting with that.
